My Own Tradition

For some strange reason I love this time of year. Not because of the snow or anything because I hate the snow. I love the holidays in December but I also love when they are over. A lot of work and time goes into preparing for Christmas and it just seems like a relief sometimes when all the decorations get cleaned up and life goes back to normal. I also have a tradition this time of year. I buy myself a new calendar for Christmas. It has to be mini calendar with beach scenes. I guess it has something to do with reminding me where I would rather be or something. Then around New Years Day I sit down and copy all of the important recurring events from my old calendar to the new one. Then, I add the days I get off of work for holidays. Then I add the school schedule (can’t wait until I don’ t have to do that). Then, I patiently wait until the BYU football schedule is announced and add that. I add any upcoming vacations (those are my favorite to add). I guess you really don’t care what I put on my calendar but it keeps my life planned and organized. I’ll never forget a birthday (unless I forget to look at the calendar, it keeps happening more and more….) and I know when we are busy or not.

I bring this up because this that is why I love this time of year. I like starting over with my fresh calendar that still has openings for possibilities. I am getting excited to see what this year will bring. I am looking forward to celebrating a few more mile stones this year. What are you looking forward to this year?

I don't think traditions should be allowed to be this productive, Cheryl. :)

Actually, I have a tradition that is similar. I buy a calendar. However, mine is not particularly helpful, because I never take the time to write stuff in it.

I've been so ready to get back into a normal routine. I'm looking forward to knowing we'll be in one place for a long time (hopefully). and ha ha I finally have my beach :) you'll have to visit sometime

I actually did the same thing! (Well, I got my wall calendar and at least put all the birthdays into it.) :)

What am I looking forward to this year? Definitely not being pregnant anymore and probably getting back the summer weather.
