Deep Thought Tuesday

I took a short break from my current book to read These is my Words by Nancy Turner. I thought it was an amazing book. In fact, I knew it would be amazing as soon as I read the dedication at the very beginning of the book, “For everyone who has ever stood alone on a hill in a storm.” Wow. That was just one of those quotes that gives me chills. I don’t particularly know why that touched me as much as it did but it just sounds beautiful.

From that same book I thought this was deep too,"Wisdom is not a path, it is a tree."

I was going to expound why I thought those quotes were so meaningful to me but then I realized I didn't want to taint it for you. Maybe they aren't inspiring at all but maybe they are. I just thought I would share some deep thoughts this Tuesday.

someday I'm going to be able to read a whole book again....without falling asleep in the first 5 minutes.

I really need to have you suggest books for me to read. Nothing I read for fun is ever deep or inspiring. Jut mind numming entertainment.

I wish you WOULD comment on your interpretation. I'm still trying to figure out the wise tree analogy. Trees have roots- do we suck wisdom from our roots (ancestors) and pass it on to our leaves (posterity)? Or do we start as leaves where we are fed by the branches via the trunk from the roots and then we work our way to being the branches and trunk where we are the carriers of the wisdom? And eventually, we are buried underground where the leaves no longer see us but we continue to bless the leaves with nourishment (wisdom) from the grave???? I just can't quite get the wisdom is a tree thing. How do you see it?
