Then of course I am absolutely fascinated about dreams. I over analyze my dreams as if they really mean something. I’ve studied many theories on dreams but I don’t think anyone really knows why we dream the things we do. But last week I had a very troubling reoccurring dream. For three nights in a row I dreamed the same thing but each night it progressed a little further. I dreamed that I was living in a cabin in the middle of the desert. I then began walking through the desert. On the first night, I didn’t see any snakes but I was afraid I would. The second night, I saw a snake and the third night the snake bit me. Doesn’t that just seem full of meaning? So I have turned to my highly scientific source and this is what I found out.
To dream that you are walking through a desert, signifies loss and misfortune. You may be suffering from an attack on your reputation. Deserts are also symbolic of barrenness, loneliness and feelings of isolation and hopelessness.
To see a rattlesnake in your dream, represents the passage of time.
To dream that you are in or see a cabin in your dream, indicates that you succeed via your own means. It suggests that you are self-reliant and independent, yet still remain humble. You prefer the simpler things in life.
So what do you wonder about human behavior? Do you believe in dream interpretation?

Cheryl, you are so funny. Like you, I feel I have been suffering a bit from SAD...and like you, I've had weird dreams lately...maybe they're connected!? Last Saturday night I had a dream that my mom forget to make Thanksgiving dinner, so being horrified by her blunder, I hurried and whipped up my favorite squash casserole for the occasion. Dreaming about squash, in and of itself, is weird. But the very next morning at church, we sit by Eric's parents and the first thing out of my father-in-laws mouth was how he would be planting butternut squash this summer so he could make my famous squash casserole, and that he still needed the recipe!? Talk about weird coincidence!?
But as far as your dream goes...I got nothin. Let me know when you decode it! :)
I have the strangest dreams, too. Although I don't remember them for very long. I usually wake up going, "That was weird and then promptly forget everything.
But here's my stab at your dream based on your current state of mind and the meanings you've provided:
Your SAD is being brought about by the "hopelessness" of winter, hence the trekking through the desert. And you're hoping for a little sun. :) This winter is lasting forever (at least for me), which brings in the snake. But once summer finally comes, we'll be complaining of excessive heat (especially when the ac at work craps out), so the desire for warmth and sun will eventually come back to bite you in the butt! How's that for insightful?
I'm not sure how the cabin fits in although you didn't say which way you were heading...away from the cabin or toward it. That would have some significance, I'm sure.
Good luck with finding the meaning, and I hope your SAD doesn't have to last much longer! :)
I often over analyze everything. Hope you feel better soon. I never know what to make of dreams
Warning: Please do not read this comment just before lunch time. I think there is something else going on here. I recently saw a report about the air in Logan. It seems you have a severe air pollution problem caused by cows. (Personally, I can vouch for that.) Now this may seem silly but, seriously, Utah has been warned by the EPA that they better get this cow air pollution thing solved or they are going to be slapped with a fine and denied federal funding for roads!!! The problem is not with the manure, as I would have thought. No, the problem is actually the ammonia evaporating from the cow urine and combining with the limited car exhaust to form the compound Ammonium Nitrate, which is as we all know, what Timothy McVey used to blow up the Oklahoma City Federal Building. But I digress. If you have been breathing the cow urine ammonia combined with the explosive ammonium nitrate (which is concentrated by the winter inversions) it is no surprise that your brain is being exposed to high levels of toxic chemicals with unknown side effects. Is it too far a stretch to think this may be the cause of your obsessive paranoia, weird dreams and even SAD? Unfortunately, relief is not soon at hand, as the reporter discovered, since Logan has more cows than cars and even a two-thirds reduction in the number of cows (as well as horses, pigs & sheep) would still leave a net cow urine ammonia clouds to combine with the small amount of auto exhaust. They make medical lights to treat SAD. Try sitting in front of one of those lights with a gas mask on and let me know if your dreams become sweeter. Meanwhile, I'll be researching to find what neutralizes large quantities of cow urine. Hang in there!
Love, Mom
Eli always reads between the lines, I hate it because I mean what I say nothing more or less. Dreams are interesting things I don't I am sure they do represent things we are thinking about, worried about, I don't know if they mean much more then that. Eli always dreams about flying and saving the world, what do you think that means?
