Washington DC Days 5-8

Surprisingly, we actually made it home from our trip. But I will touch on that later. After we left Washington DC we stayed in Gettysburg. I am not much of a history buff but it was very interesting to drive through the battlefield near Gettysburg, PA. We took a driving tour that guided us through the park and took us through the events and locations of the historic three day battle. It is a fairly large park that is now scattered with monuments. We stayed in the actual town of Gettysburg for a night and I loved the town. It is small with a main street that is lined with cute restaurants and shops. We also took a ghost tour the evening we stayed there. We didn't see any ghosts but it was fun to walk around the town and hear ghost stories.

After we left Gettysburg we headed to Baltimore. We first visited Fort McHenry which is a unique fort due to its star shape design. It survived a 25 hour attack during the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner after seeing that the American flag still survived after the assault. It was really neat to see the American flag displayed there. Next, we visited the National Aquarium. It was a really neat aquarium. It had a shark walk where you walked into a room and were surrounded by all kinds of sharks.

We had such a fun trip. It was so exciting to see so many neat things as well as remnants of history.

On Saturday we ended our trip and headed home. I was worried sick about having more flight problems but each flight we had left on time and arrived early with no problems. But I will never fly JetBlue again. Never.
